How to reduce banking fees

You can minimise banking fees by making smart banking choices and by learning about the fees that may apply to your products and services.

Minimise account fees

Our bank accounts have no monthly fees. Occasionally, some non-standard transaction or service fees apply. Some examples include if you:

  • Overdraw your account
  • Do not have sufficient funds to honour a cheque or direct debit
  • Use your Visa card for a purchase in another currency (other than AUD)
  • Require more than one replacement Visa card in a year 
  • Request for Heritage staff to perform a transaction for you, that you could do online

Tip: Consider setting up email alerts

You can set up email alerts to notify you when your account drops below a certain balance. This may help you avoid dishonour or overdraft reference fees.

What is the currency conversion fee for using my card overseas or online?
When you purchase on your Heritage Visa card overseas, or online in a foreign currency, you will pay a currency conversion fee.
Where can I find an ATM with no fees?
Use your Heritage Visa Card to get money out fee free at Heritage ATMs and big 4 Bank ATMs in Australia.

When you take out a home loan, personal loan or business loan, there are standard fees that apply such as application, monthly and loan finalisation fees. There are some non-standard fees that may apply if you:

  • Pay out your fixed-rate loan early
  • Make a late repayment or miss a repayment
