In a new scam, fraudsters may call pretending to be from the Heritage Fraud Team and request your secret passwords, card details and codes to gain access to your accounts.

The calls may come from a mix of phone numbers. Cybercriminals may also use “spoofing” software to make the caller ID name to appear to come from a legitimate Heritage number.

The scammers will claim to be from Heritage, contacting you about an issue with your account.

They may ask you to transfer money, or to share sensitive information such as your One Time Passwords, PIN, internet banking passwords or personal details.

What you need to know

  • Be wary of calls claiming to be from Heritage. If you are unsure, disconnect and call us back on 13 14 22. The Heritage Fraud Team will not be offended and we encourage you to do this.
  • We will never contact you asking you to move funds to another account.
  • We will never ask you to reveal a One Time Password (OTP) to us – that is private and individual to you. If you share your OTP, you may fail to meet Heritage Bank’s passcode requirements which could result in you being liable for losses arising from unauthorised transactions on your account.
  • While Heritage may send information, or confirm receipt of items, by SMS and email, we will never send requests for you to share personal security details such as your PIN, CCV number, internet banking passwords or credit card details.
  • Our Fraud Team prioritises your account security. Learn more about how we protect you from fraud.
