Funds raised by Heritage Bank’s annual calendar have helped boost vital support services for Queensland families grieving the loss of their babies.
Each year, Heritage invites the community to collect a copy of their annual calendar for a gold coin donation, with the proceeds donated to a number of charities around southern Queensland.
Staff at Heritage Forest Lake Community Branch recently presented a cheque for $3,594 to Sands, a nation-wide charity providing miscarriage, stillbirth & newborn death support.
Heritage Forest Lake staff member Courtney Prior was absolutely delighted to see Sands receive the funds after nominating them as a beneficiary last year.
“The work Sands does is particularly close to my heart having experienced the amazing support services they provide first-hand,” Ms Prior said.
“As a volunteer-based organisation, they connect bereaved parents online and over the phone to volunteers who have also experienced pregnancy or infant loss. The support they offer is invaluable and reassures people that they don’t have to go through such a difficult experience alone.”
Sands State Manager QLD Ashleigh Rousseaux said, “Heritage’s very generous donation will help us continue to support bereaved parents across Australia, supporting the work of our volunteers on our 24/7 phone line and online services, and the support meetings and events in local communities.
“We are deeply grateful to Heritage Bank, and in particular to Courtney for nominating us as the recipient of these funds that Heritage Bank has raised through the sale of calendars.”
