One kilogram can change a life. Let’s raise 10 tonne.
Loads of Love Appeal
Heritage Bank CEO
As Christmas approaches, you can feel the excitement and joy increasing. For me, Christmas is a time for family and fun, wonderful food and conversation. Unfortunately, this is not the case for many families. Many households in our community will be struggling this Christmas, often as a result of crisis beyond their control.
Earlier this month I had the pleasure of helping launch the "Loads of Love" campaign, in conjunction with METRO Care and Lifeline.
"Loads of Love" aims to make Christmas just that little bit better for those in our communities who are doing it a bit tough, by asking the more fortunate members of the community to donate a bag filled with non-perishable food items.
Now in its seventh year, the Loads of Love Appeal has set the ambitious target of gathering 10,000 kilograms of donations this Christmas, as well as expanding its reach to assist households in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, as well as Toowoomba.
Heritage first became involved in the Loads of Love campaign last year in Toowoomba, with our staff members jumping on board to organise donations and fundraising. We raised almost $1,200 and donated nearly 500kg of food just through the amazing generosity of our staff members.
This year we have extended our involvement and all 61 of our branches will this year become collection points for Loads of Love. Community members right across our branch footprint will be able to pick up a Loads of Love bag from a branch, fill it up with food items and return it. We have organised for those donations to be collected and METRO Care, together with Lifeline, will distribute them to families in need.
I'm really excited and proud that our Bank has such a strong community focus. It is part of what makes Heritage different and the fact that our teams get behind the Loads of Love appeal makes it that little bit special.
At the launch in Toowoomba I was asked by the media why we got involved. It was an easy answer. Being Passionate About Helping People isn't restricted to finance, it extends to our communities and that's something that we will always deliver on.
Thanks to all the teams that are involved in this project - a fantastic effort. Keep a look out for the red Loads of Love bags, encourage your family and friends to get involved and together we can make Christmas special for a lot of people.
►▼ What is the Loads of Love Appeal?

These bags are distributed to households in need during the Christmas season. This year the Loads of Love Appeal has expanded to cover the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast.
