Families in need across the Darling Downs and Southern Queensland will have 20,000 reasons to smile this Christmas, with thanks to the 2018 Loads of Love Appeal.

The Loads of Love Appeal aims to make Christmas that little bit better for families doing it tough, by asking the public to donate a bag filled with donations of non-perishable food items like canned food, pasta, cereal, meal bases and toiletries.

Now in its ninth year, the “Loads of Love Appeal” has set the ambitious target of gathering 20,000 kilograms of non-perishable food this Christmas for distribution to households across Southern Queensland.

Once again, the Loads of Love Appeal is partnering with Heritage Bank to widen its collection capabilities with all 60 Heritage Bank branches acting as collection points. Along with participating Harvey Norman stores across Southern Queensland the appeal hopes to collect more than ever before.

People wishing to help the Appeal can simply pick up a bag at any Heritage branch or participating Harvey Norman across Southern Queensland, and fill it with food items and drop the donated items at their closest collection point.

Appeal organiser, Matt Gregg, said, “Loads of Love is simple, easy and accessible to everyone. “We can all make a difference and be a part of spreading some Christmas cheer in our local communities.

“All donations of non-perishable food will be distributed in partnership with trusted local community organisations in key areas of need across Southern Queensland. Every single item will go to where it is needed the most.”

Heritage Bank CEO Peter Lock said that the Loads of Love Appeal was a great way for the whole community to play a part in making a difference during Christmas.

"We're now in our fourth year of supporting Loads of Love and are really excited and proud to again join with the community in giving back to families doing it tough,” he said.

“Seeing our teams get behind great community initiatives like Loads of Love with so much enthusiasm and generosity is a part of what makes Heritage special.”
The 2018 Loads of Love Appeal runs from 1 November – 20 December.

Those wishing to find out more about the Appeal or closest collection points can visit the Loads of Love website www.loadsoflove.org.au. All donations collected will be weighed with a live running total shown on the Loads of Love website.
