Funds raised from the sale of Heritage Bank’s annual calendar have given a much-needed boost to Gold Coast Hospital Foundation’s Cancer Patient Transport Services.

Heritage Bank’s Southport branch recently presented a donation of $3,975 to Joe Hanlon, Gold Coast Hospital Foundation Business Development and Operation Manager, to support vital transport for cancer patients to and from hospital for assessment and treatment.

Heritage Bank Branch Manager Janelle Lynn said, “We are absolutely delighted to join with the wider community to give back to worthy recipients like Gold Coast Hospital Foundation.

“Over the past few years we’ve built a wonderful relationship with the Foundation and seen first-hand the positive impact they’ve made to the lives of patients and their families.

“The transport service is contracted to volunteers and relies on funding from The Foundation so this donation will go a long way in keeping it going.”

Kim Sutton from Gold Coast Hospital Foundation said, “Each year Gold Coast Hospital Foundation assists thousands of children and adults in the Gold Coast community overcome emotional and financial hardship caused by illness and injury.

“Our Cancer Patient Transport Service helps patients who are too unwell, face financial hardship or have no one available to drive them. This important service makes more than 7,000 trips to and from hospital annually, providing support when it is needed most.

“On behalf of the cancer patients who use this service and will benefit from your gift, thank you.”

The Heritage Bank calendar is an annual tradition that started back in 1982. Each year, Heritage chooses a prominent Queensland house to feature on its annual calendar, to help celebrate excellence in local architecture.

Customers and community members can then obtain a copy of the calendar for a gold coin donation, with the proceeds then donated to a number of charities around southern Queensland.
