Ongoing AML/CTF Identification Requirements

Under AML/CTF legislative requirements you may be asked to provide additional identification documents as per the table below, the Heritage staff member will advise you when this is required. At least one of the identification documents provided must contain your current residential address and either a photograph or current signature of the account holder or authorised signatory.

Primary Photographic Documents

Drivers License (with photo) A license or permit issued under a law of a State or Territory or equivalent authority of a foreign country for the purpose of driving a vehicle that contains a photograph of the person in whose name the document is issued.
A passport issued by the Commonwealth (this can be expired passport which has not been cancelled and was current within the preceeding 2 years) (with photo) A passport issued by the Commonwealth.
A passport or similar document issued for the purpose of international travel (with photo) A passport or similar document issued for the purpose of international travel, that:
  • contains a photograph and the signature of the person in whose name the document is issued and
  • is issued by a foreign government, the United nations or an agency of the United Nations and
  • if it is written in a language that is not understood by the staff member/agent, is accompanied by an English translation prepared by an accredited translator.
Proof of Age Card (eg 18+ card) (with photo) A card issued under a law of a State or Territory for the purpose of providing the person's age which contains a photograph of the person in whose name the document is issued.
Passport (child under 18) (with photo) A passport issued by the Commonwealth.
A passport or similar document issued for the purpose of international travel, that:

National identity card A national identity card issued for the purpose of identification, that:

  • if it is written in a language that is not understood by the staff member/agent, is accompanied by an English translation prepared by an accredited translator.

Primary Non-photographic Documents

Birth certificate / Birth extract A birth certificate or birth extract issued by a State or Territory.
Birth Certificate issued by a foreign government A birth certificate issued by a foreign government, the United Nations or an agency of the United Nations that, if it is written in a language that is not understood by the staff member/agent, is accompanied by an English translation prepared by an accredited translator.
Birth certificate (child under 18) A birth certificate or birth extract issued by a State or Territory.

Community Leader Reference for Indigenous Australians A community leader includes:
  • a person who is recognised by the members of the community to be a community elder or
  • If there is an Aboriginal council that represents the community - an elected member of the council or
  • A member of a Regional Council established under Section 92 of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission Act, 1989 or
  • A member, or a member of the staff, of a local land council established under section 21 of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1676 or
  • A member of the staff of "Indigenous Business Australia"

Secondary Documents

Rates notice (Latest Notice) A notice that:
  • was issued to an individual by a local government body or utilities provider within the preceding three months and
  • contains the name of the individual and his or her residential address; and
  • records the provision of services by that local government body or utilities provider to that address or to that person.
One of telephone/gas/electricity accounts (Latest Account) A notice that:
  • was issued to an individual by a local government body or utilities provider within the preceding three months and
  • contains the name of the individual and his or her residential address; and
  • records the provision of services by that local government body or utilities provider to that address or to that person.
Notice from School principal In relation to a person under the age of 18, a notice that:
  • was issued to a person by a school principal within the preceding three months and
  • contains the name of the person and his or her residential address and
  • records the period of time that the person attended at the school.
Supplement entitlement notice (e.g. Austudy/Abstudy) A notice that:
  • was issued to an individual by the Commonwealth, a State or Territory within the preceding twelve months and
  • contains the name of the individual and his or her residential address and
  • records the provision of financial benefits to the individual under a law of the Commonwealth, State or Territory (as the case may be).
Other - Secondary Category - Free Text Field A notice that:
  • was issued to an individual by the Commonwealth, a State or Territory within the preceding twelve months and
  • contains the name of the individual and his or her residential address and
  • records the provision of financial benefits to the individual under a law of the Commonwealth, State or Territory (as the case may be).
ATO notice A notice that:
  • was issued to an individual by the Australian Taxation Office within the preceding 12 months and
  • contains the name of the individual and his or her residential address and
  • records a debt payable to or by the individual by or to (respectively) the Commonwealth under a Commonwealth law relating to taxation.
