Van donated by Heritage Bank hits the streets as Toowoomba Clubhouse commercial laundry celebrates official opening

After many months of hard work, the Toowoomba Clubhouse social enterprise project Vanguard Laundry is now officially open for business.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull officially opened the Stephen Street facility today at a special function attended by the project’s many supporters including representatives from Heritage Bank.

Heritage Bank donated a new delivery van to the commercial laundry business that will create over 60 career and training opportunities per year for people who have experienced mental illness.

The van will be used to pick up and deliver laundry items from the new facility to commercial clients like motels and hospitals.

Heritage Bank CEO Peter Lock, “Finding opportunities to support and develop our communities is integral to Heritage’s culture. We’re passionate about doing whatever we can to help the region prosper.

“The Vanguard Laundry Services project will have a positive impact on the region and we congratulate Toowoomba Clubhouse on bringing it to fruition.

“This is one of the first social enterprise businesses of its kind in Australia and we are absolutely delighted to join with the rest of the community in embracing the vision to help make it possible."
