Heritage makes hearty contribution to national campaign
Heritage Building Society today joined in a cheeky campaign by mutual financial institutions across Australia reminding their local communities that while the major banks are busy “breaking up with each other”, the mutual sector remains focused on delivering great value to its members.
Heritage CEO John Minz today manned a stall outside the Society’s head office in Toowoomba handing out heart-shaped chocolates and ice creams to demonstrate that mutual financial institutions like Heritage have the best interests of their members at heart.
“There is choice in banking and Australians are becoming more aware of the alternatives to the major banks,” said Mr Minz.
“That’s why we’re wearing our hearts on our sleeves here today to show the community just what mutual financial institutions like Heritage Building Society can offer them.
“The major banks are running advertising campaigns trying to distance themselves from each other but we have been here all along focusing on the needs of our members.
“Heritage is proud to be born and bred in the Toowoomba region, and has been part of this community for 136 years.
“In that time, we have helped many thousands of people buy their own homes and secure their financial future. We live and work in this community – we put our customers first and pride ourselves on our exceptional customer service and value.
“We’re telling people that while the banks are busy breaking up with each other, consumers should make the feeling mutual and switch their banking to somewhere like Heritage, which focuses on them and puts People first.”
Heritage Building Society is a mutual financial institution which means that unlike banks, it isn’t run to make profits to pay shareholders. Instead, as customer-owned institutions, mutuals put their profits back into better products, lower rates and fees, and great customer service.
Other building societies and credit unions undertook similar events today as part of a national campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of the mutual sector. The campaign was coordinated by Abacus, the industry organisation that represents mutuals.
“For more information on how you can get great value banking, drop into one of our branches today or check out our website at heritage.com.au” said Mr Minz.
