Heritage secures national ATM network
Heritage Building Society members can now use a network of more than 2900 ATMs across Australia, free of direct-fee charges
Heritage has just finalised an agreement enabling members to use Heritage cards at all Westpac group ATMs, without incurring a direct fee for using a “foreign” ATM. That applies at all Westpac, St George and BankSA branded ATMs (excluding St George ATMs in BP service stations).
Together with Heritage’s existing ATM fleet, that gives members access to one of Australia’s largest networks – 2900 ATMs. Another 500 are due to be added to that network in the next three years
Heritage CEO John Minz said that was great news for members and delivered one of the features that customers rated most highly from their financial institution.
“Research shows that banking customers rate access to a convenient ATM network as one of the features they value most, and a crucial driver of decision-making about who they bank with,” Mr Minz said.
“This new agreement means our members can now enjoy the convenience of being able to use a comprehensive ATM network around Australia without incurring the direct-fee fees normally applied for using another institution’s ATM,” he said.
“That makes everyday transactions easier, more convenient and more cost effective for our members wherever they might be around Australia, which is a fantastic outcome.”
Mr Minz said the agreement made Heritage an even more attractive proposition for people looking for greater value from their financial institution.
“As a mutual building society, we already give great value back to our members through highly competitive rates, fairer fees and charges, and personalised service. So as well as benefitting from our member-focussed approach to banking, Heritage members also can now enjoy access to one of the largest combined ATM fleets in the country. “
Mr Minz said Heritage would be targeting increased member growth on the back of the deal.
“This agreement definitely strengthens our competitiveness and appeal in the marketplace, particularly in comparison to the big banks,” he said.
