Heritage named Building Society of the Year
Queensland-based Heritage Building Society has been voted the best in Australia.
Heritage tonight won the Building Society of the Year award at the 20th Annual Australian Banking & Finance Awards held in Sydney – taking out the title for the seventh time in the last nine years.
Accepting the award in Sydney, Heritage CEO John Minz said he was proud of the Society’s achievement and acknowledged the industry’s recognition of Heritage’s excellent performance in a challenging market.
“Heritage is a true Queensland success story and it’s great to be recognised on a national stage,” Mr Minz said.
“Heritage offers a strong, stable and successful alternative for people who want a financial institution that provides a full range of banking services with an emphasis on great service.
“At Heritage, we focus on living our People first philosophy by providing members a better deal in the form of excellent service, fair fees and highly competitive interest rates.
“The strength of that business model and management philosophy has shone through in the current turbulent financial times.
“The award of Building Society of the Year is recognition from our peers that we can excel on a national stage.”
Heritage offers members a network of 130 retail outlets throughout south east Queensland, as well as broker services in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
Mr Minz congratulated Heritage’s 700 staff for their contribution to the Society’s achievement.
“Our staff are the backbone of the Society and they can feel particularly proud because this award is industry recognition of their outstanding performance and service that is delivered everyday in each of our branches, mini branches, our contact centre and through our broker network,” he said.
Mr Minz was also a finalist in the Financial Services Executive of the Year category tonight.
