CEO Message

While Christmas should be a time of joy and happiness, many households in our community will be struggling this festive season, often as a result of crises beyond their control.

We want to do our part to help make Christmas a little brighter for families doing it tough. That’s why we are so proud to again be an official partner of the Loads of Love Appeal.

Heritage first became involved with Loads of Love in 2015 and I’m proud to see this partnership continue into 2018 with all 60 of our branches again acting as collection points for the Appeal.

From now until 20 December, members of the community can pick up a Loads of Love bag from any Heritage branch, fill it up with food items and return it.

We have organised for those donations to be collected and Civic Assist (formerly known as METRO Care), together with Lifeline and other community organisations across southern Queensland, will distribute them to families in need.

This year, the goal is to collect 20 tonnes of donated items and I’m sure together we will achieve great results again.

At Heritage our vision is being passionate about helping people; I'm really excited and proud that this extends past the walls of our branches and offices and out into the community.

It is part of what makes Heritage different - our staff genuinely want to make a positive contribution and support activities that achieve great things for the community. Keep a look out for the red Loads of Love bags, encourage your family and friends to get involved, and together we can make Christmas special for a lot of people.

To get involved, just drop into one of our Heritage Bank branches to pick up a red Loads of Love bag, fill the bag with non-perishable food and personal items and then return it to the branch. Your donation will be collected from the branch by a charitable organisation and distributed to families in need.

Here is a list of non-perishable shopping items that will make sure your support will make an impact.

  • Rice, noodles and pasta
  • Meal bases and pasta sauce
  • Long-life milk, tea, coffee and sugar
  • Cereal, spreads, biscuits and snacks
  • Juice, poppers and canned foods
  • cake or pancake mixes
  • Luxury items like chocolate, lollies, or Christmas Bon Bon's to help make their Christmas a great one.

Note: No fresh food or toys. Please ensure all non-perishable food is in original packaging so recipients can check ingredients in case of allergies and intolerances.

These donations will be distributed through community service organisations to families in need throughout Southern Queensland.

All of this year's donations have been allocated to families through METRO Care's distribution organisations. However, you are welcome to contact the Loads of Love Appeal office via the details on their website and they will be happy to chat to you about your situation.
