Update on LMW data disclosure incident

Heritage Bank does not believe data disclosure incident at property valuation firm Landmark White Limited (LMW) has put customers at risk

21 March 2019

Heritage Bank does not believe any of its customers are at risk of serious harm as a result of a data disclosure incident reported recently by property valuation firm Landmark White Limited (LMW).

Last month, Heritage Bank received a notification from LMW about a data breach that had affected customers from a number of Australian banks. The incident was limited to LMW’s systems and did not involve a breach of any Heritage Bank system.

Heritage Bank takes any incident involving its members' data protection extremely seriously, and has worked closely with LMW and external experts to fully understand the nature and extent of the incident.

Based on LMW's investigation, our own internal investigation and recent direct communications with LMW, we believe that no Heritage Bank members are at risk of serious harm as a result of the incident. No specific actions are required by any Heritage Bank members in response.

Our usual monitoring and detection systems are in place to track any unusual activity on our members’ accounts. We recommend members remain vigilant to telephone call, SMS and email phishing scams requesting personal details or the payment of money, and avoid opening attachments via email or social media from unknown senders.

For further information, you can contact Heritage Bank on 13 14 22 or via email to info@heritagebank.com.au.

If you have any doubts about the legitimacy of direct communications received from Heritage Bank or LMW about this incident, please contact Heritage Bank or LMW to verify the communication.

LMW has maintained and updated its own FAQs about the incident on its website.
