A campaign to bring an inclusive playground to Nanango has received a major boost from Heritage Nanango Community Branch.

Heritage Nanango Community Branch and joint venture partner Heritage Nanango Community Fund (HNCF) have committed to matching community donations towards the project on a $3-for-$1 basis.

Community support to bring an inclusive playground for special needs children and adults to the South Burnett quickly gained momentum after the idea was raised by Nanango mother Cheryl Warner last May.

An informal group of local business and community leaders then gained in-principle support from the South Burnett Regional Council for construction and launched a community fundraising drive to bring it to fruition.

The project needs to achieve a fundraising goal of $80,000 to get work underway at Butter Factory Park.  However that will now be achieved quicker than expected thanks to Heritage and HNCF.

HNCF Chairman Wendy Zerbst said, “Together with Heritage, we’re delighted to support the inclusive playground project up to a maximum of $60,000 over the coming year.

“This will reduce the amount the community needs to raise by almost 75 per cent.

“The playground will provide a sensory park and play equipment that people of all ages and abilities can enjoy. Currently there are no other facilities like this in Nanango so it will provide huge benefits for so many people in our community.”

A fundraising tally board has been erected in Heritage Nanango Community Branch so the community can follow the progress towards the $80,000 goal. You can also view the fundraising tally online
