Travel checklist
At Heritage we put People first and part of that means helping making your holiday dreams happen.
What's top of your holiday destination list? Hawaii, Phuket, Fiji? Or are you the type to get off the beaten track and like the sound of Alaska or Brazil?
Wherever you're heading, Heritage has a range of international services, including foreign currency, Cash Passports and travel insurance to help you on your way.
We can also make it easier to save for your trip. Check out our savings and investments products.
How much money will I need?
It depends. Where are you going? How long will you stay? What's the currency conversion like? But the best advice we can give you is to save as much as you can before you leave, then make a budget and stick to it while you're away.
There are obvious expenses that are quite easy to account for such as flights, accommodation and car hire. Work out how much you'll spend on food each day and other essential expenses. Then allow for sightseeing, shopping, souvenirs and gifts. It's also a good idea to have an emergency fund for unexpected expenses.
Don't forget to convert the funds into the currency of the country you're visiting.
Don't buy a one-way ticket into debt
It's not a good idea to take a holiday that gets you into debt. But don't abandon the whole holiday idea just because you haven't saved enough money. Get creative instead! Consider alternative destinations that are cheaper, maybe reduce the length of your stay or even scale down your expenses by booking less expensive accommodation. Or maybe plan to use public transport rather than car hire. Slight changes to your plans may even add to the richness of your experience!
Paying your way overseas
It can get confusing getting used to foreign currencies, particularly if you're visiting a lot of countries in a short amount of time. Heritage has plenty of options when it comes to paying for things overseas.
Make sure you pack travel insurance
You probably won't need it, but travel insurance is essential. Organise a good travel insurance policy then relax and enjoy your trip.
Make copies of your policy documents and leave them at home with family or friends so they're easily replaced if lost or stolen.
